Healing begins with connection. We are here for you. You are not alone.
SPAN of Benewah is a community of local citizens, organizations, and survivors united in a shared mission - to raise awareness, extend support, and bring hope to those facing mental health challenges and thoughts of suicide. SPAN: Suicide, Prevention, Awareness, Network
We provide community outreach events, connect individuals with local and national resources, and offer wholehearted support to those struggling with harmful thoughts, as well as to families grieving the loss of a loved one to suicide. We also offer meaningful volunteer opportunities for those who want to make a difference.
Suicide and mental health challenges affect countless individuals and families, often in silence. At SPAN, we believe in the power of connection, education, and hope to change lives. By providing a safe space for conversations, resources for support, and a community of care, we help break the stigma surrounding mental health struggles. Every effort we make is part of creating a world where no one has to face these challenges alone, and where healing and hope are always within reach.

If you're struggling, please consider calling or texting 988, which provides 24/7, free, and confidential mental health crisis support across the United States. If you feel you are in crisis, the Northern Idaho Crisis Center in Coeur d'Alene (2301 Ironwood Place) is also available 24/7 at (208) 625-4884 for people 18 years and older. You can also go to the nearest Emergency Department. Additionally, consider reaching out to a local church, joining a support group, or leaving a message here, and we'll
connect with you to explore other resources.
Please don't hesitate to leave us a message or reach out directly to one of our caring members. We're here to listen and help you find the right resources. You're not alone, and we can help you figure out where to start.
Yes, absolutely. We understand how important confidentiality is, and we are committed to respecting your privacy. Your feelings and struggles will not be shared with others unless you choose to do so. You can feel safe here.
If you're worried about someone, it's important to offer your support and connect them with the resources they need. If they are in crisis, help them access immediate support like the 988 Lifeline or local emergency services. If they are not in crisis but need help managing their mental health, we can assist in finding a clinician. Let them know you're there for them and offer to help them reach out for support. Remind them they're not alone, and that seeking help is a sign of strength.
Yes, we are always here to support. Yes, we offer a variety of resources for families and friends affected by suicide or mental health challenges. Our monthly Grief Support meeting is open to anyone experiencing loss. Additionally, you may receive a Comfort Basket from one of our members, which includes both helpful resources and comforting items. We also offer peer support, so if you just need someone to talk to, we're here for that, too. Please check our calendar for upcoming trainings, workshops, and other community meetings.
We are so sorry for your loss, and we're here to support you in any way we can. Whether you're looking for emotional support, resources for healing, or connections to others who understand, we can help. Please reach out, and we'll work together to find the right kind of support for your situation.
